The arrival of college stars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese to the WNBA has given the league a whole new level of prestige. While Clark’s Tuesday night debut set TV viewership records, Angel Reese’s first game for the Chicago Sky was such a high-profile event that rapper Latto pulled up just to watch, then left on a private jet right after.
Angel Reese brings the stars to Chicago
“DUHHH!! THE BIGGEST,” Reese wrote on Twitter/X in response to the in game interview where Latto told the world who she was there to see. Reese previously made a cameo in Latto’s music video for “Put It On Da Floor Again (feat. Cardi B)”.
The Atlanta rapper filled everyone in on the full story after the game, as she posted a TikTok of her hopping back on her private jet straight after the game. Her travel was even more luxurious than the WNBA players that night; the WNBA is still slowly rolling out its charter flight policy.
“I came here strictly for Angel Reese. I’m out,” Latto said before hopping on the jet. Angel also reposted that video on Twitter with the caption, “love you bookiesss … IN & OUT LITERALLY!”
Reese and Clark given different platforms
Sadly, the 777 artist and her expensive journey to watch Reese exposed a double standard that has frustrated WNBA fans. Those with tickets to the game were some of the only people outside Chicago who could watch the Sky’s opener against the Dallas Wings, because it was not nationally televised. Reese finished with 12 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

It was a stark difference from Clark’s ballyhooed debut with the Indiana Fever the night before, which was televised on ESPN2 and became the W’s most-watched game since 2001.
While the most notable people at Clark’s debut in Connecticut were those on the “Bandwagon Cam,” Reese once again flexed her immense social influence, bringing a new energy and a major celebrity to Chicago. The Chi-Town Barbie has left no doubt about her ability to draw new fans, she’s just waiting on the WNBA to catch up.
