On Monday evening, Angel Reese became the center of great social media discourse for her comments about Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.

During her media availability at Chicago Sky practice, Reese made sure to point out that the rapidly-growing coverage of the WNBA isn’t solely due to the arrival of Clark.

“I’ll look back in 20 years and be like the reason why we’re watching women’s basketball is not just because of one person. It’s because of me, too. I want y’all to realize that,” Reese said.

It was the “me” portion of Reese’s comments that rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way. Many viewed it as an attitude issue from the Sky rookie.

But, this viral clip left out a key portion of Reese’s comments.

The No. 7 overall pick later went on to explain that the league’s growing popularity can be attributed to “so many great players” not named Clark or Reese.

“It’s not just because of one person. A lot of us have done so much for this game… There are so many great players for this league that have deserved this for a really, really long time,” Reese continued. “Luckily, it’s coming now.”
