Brittney Griner is getting her life back on track after her nightmarish 290-plus days in prison in Russia. Now, the WNBA star is looking forward to the future, and she has done that so much so that the Mercury Center has already decided on the profession for her yet-to-born son.

Griner and her wife, Cherelle, are welcoming their son soon, and the 2014 WNBA champion has already decided what her son will do for a living. During an interview with TMZ, Griner revealed that her son will be an athlete, and there are no two ways about it.

“We support you and love you sis!” A fan wrote.

“Aww, congratulations to both of you! You’re bringing a great blessing in to your lives”, Another fan wrote.

“So exciting! Hope all continues to go well and healthy!” A fan appreciates it.

Brittney Griner married Cherelle, a lawyer, in 2019 after coming out as a lesbian in 2013. Tragedy struck in 2022 when she was detained in Russia’s Sheremetyevo Airport after customs found vape cartridges containing oil derived from cannabis in her bag.

Griner was sentenced to 9 years in prison, and after tireless efforts by her wife, the US government traded her with Viktor Bout, a Russian arms dealer, in a prisoner swap between the two nations.

Now, the couple lives happily while waiting for their child. Griner is also focused on the future, but a near one with Caitlin Clark involved.

During the same interview with TMZ, Griner put forth her take on WNBA rookies such as Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Cameron Brink.

“I think it’s amazing for women’s sports, with these rookies — I think it’s amazing,” said the veteran center when she was asked what the rookies’ inclusion means to the league.

While Caitlin Clark is having a tough start to her WNBA career regarding the team’s performance, her personal record has been brilliant so far after she was the fastest rookie to reach the 150-point mark. Cameron Brink is also not far behind, as she recently broke Griner’s record of most blocks by a rookie since 2013 in their first month of play.

Griner has yet to get on the court due to her toe injury, but it will be a fascinating match-up when the 6’9″ center goes up against Caitlin Clark and the rookies.
