On Thursday night, Caitlin Clark took the court for her preseason home opener with the Indiana Fever.

Indiana’s Gainbridge Fieldhouse was packed with fans eager to watch Clark in action — one being Clark’s former Iowa teammate Gabbie Marshall.

Marshall, wearing a No. 22 jersey shirt, met with Clark on the court for an embrace.

“Ily,” Clark wrote as the caption to a photo of the touching moment.

“It’s just special obviously having her here. Someone I started all four years at Iowa with and has been one of my best friends over the course of the last four years,” Clark said after the game.

“It’s just special. I told her I love her. She said the same… I’m sure she’ll be at a few games this season for us. It’s weird being on the court without her, but it was fun having her there.”

Marshall arrived at Iowa one year before Clark and played all five of her collegiate seasons with the Hawkeyes. Instead of entering the 2024 WNBA Draft, the veteran guard elected to pursue her masters degree in occupational therapy at the University of North Carolina.

Clark will take the court again for her regular-season debut against the Connecticut Sun on May 14.
