Here’s how much it will cost to watch Clark chase a championship.
Caitlin Clark and her Iowa Hawkeyes are heading for Albany, New York to continue their pursuit of an NCAA championship. After overcoming the West Virginia Mountaineers in an intense matchup on Monday, the Hawkeyes on Saturday will face the fifth-seeded Colorado Buffaloes at MVP Arena in New York’s state capital — and a potential regional final against the LSU Tigers looms after that, in what would be a rematch of last season’s national title game.
Of course, the sports world has been enraptured by Clark, who made more history on Monday night in her final home game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The NCAA’s all-time scoring leader is four games away from capping her college career with a championship — and as a result, the price of admission to see her play shot way up following the win over West Virginia.
Reseller Vivid Seats has listed prices for all games in Albany — an “all-sessions” package comprising all eight games, across two regions, that will be played at MVP Arena.
The package to watch games featuring Clark, LSU star Angel Reese, and undefeated powerhouse South Carolina begins at $630 — without factoring in service and handling fees.
This pricing surge comes after Clark and top-seeded Iowa set a new viewership record for a Women’s NCAA Tournament game that took place before the Final Four. An audience of nearly five million viewers tuned in to ESPN to watch Clark drop 32 points in the 64-54 win over eighth-seeded West Virginia.
Reese and third-seeded LSU will play two-seed UCLA in Albany, and the winner of that game will face Iowa or Colorado. South Carolina is in another region, but the Gamecocks too will be in Albany, facing off with fourth-seeded Indiana.
The winner of Indiana – South Carolina will take on either Notre Dame or Oregon State in the regional final.
A chance to witness more history
One reason it costs a lot of money to see Clark and the Hawkeyes in New York is because the superstar guard set another points record on Monday.
Thanks to a late scoring surge, Clark was able to surpass Kelsey Plum’s mark for points in a single season. The record was 1,109 points, which Plum set during the 2016/17 season. Clark has now scored 1,113 points during the 2023/24 campaign.
In addition, Clark is inching closer to 4,000 points scored in her collegiate career — although she will need to have a couple huge games between now and the championship game in order to break new ground for NCAA scoring.
Assuming for a second that Iowa makes another run to the national final, Clark would need to score 170 points over the next four games in order to reach 4,000 — an average of 42.5 points per game, well above her season average of 31.8 points.
