WNBA fans had a mixed reaction to Caitlin Clark’s second official game and home opener for the Indiana Fever against the New York Liberty on Thursday. Clark was limited to just nine points and was marred with foul trouble in a lopsided 102-66 loss to the Liberty.

Clark’s main problem on her debut was turnovers, having 10 in Indiana’s 92-71 defeat. She cut her turnovers down on Thursday night, committing just three. She still shot the ball poorly, though, going 2-for-8 against the Liberty. She was 4-for-4 from the free throw line, finishing with nine points, seven rebounds and six assists.

It was a tough task for the Fever because the Liberty were one of the best teams in the WNBA last season. They went to the WNBA Finals and boast superstars like Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu.

WNBA fans have had mixed reactions to Caitlin Clark’s second game. Some were frustrated with how she performed, while others thought that there’s nothing to worry about and that it’s part of being a rookie.

One fan even pointed out that the Indiana Fever are a poor team, as they got back-to-back first-overall picks:

“I feel like people are forgetting why Indiana got the first pick.”

“Clark finding out quick the difference between college and pros,” one fan claimed.

“It’s her 2nd game. There’s an adaptation process for 99% of players,” another fan commented.

Meanwhile, Indiana Fever fans are putting the blame on coach Christie Sides. Some reckon that Sides doesn’t know how to use Caitlin Clark, while others are calling for her firing.

“Caitlin Clark needs to shoot 25 times a night for this team to succeed, and it feels like Christie Sides isn’t giving her that green light,” one fan suggested.

“Christie Sides is being chicken shit. Simple as that. Let CC have the ball. What’s the worst that could happen? You go 13-27?” another fan asked.

“Darvin Ham with the Lakers was the worst coach I ever seen until I just saw Christie Sides with the Indiana Fever,” a fan claimed.

What’s next for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever?

Things are not getting easier for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, as they are heading to the Big Apple on Saturday to face the New York Liberty again. They follow it up with a home game against the Connecticut Sun, which means the Fever could go 0-4 to start the season.

And the tough teams don’t stop there for the Fever, with the revamped Seattle Storm after that followed by the LA Sparks, the defending champions Las Vegas Aces and another matchup against the Sparks.

It’s going to be a tough stretch for Clark and Indiana, so it will be interesting to see if the team can make some adjustments.
