Legendary UConn coach Geno Auriemma made an appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show” on Thursday, in order to discuss his recent contract extension, star player Paige Bueckers returning to UConn for one final season, and the 2024 WNBA rookie class.

Auriemma has praised Caitlin Clark endlessly over the years, calling her one of the greatest talents he has ever coached against.

But his comments on Thursday made it clear that she is not in a good situation with the Indiana Fever.

“You know, Diana Taurasi was right. This kid is on the wrong team,” Auriemma said of Clark. “She’s got the wrong skillset to handle the physicality of that league, and she’s a rookie.”

About a minute later, Auriemma doubled down on that sentiment.

“[Clark] needs to be on a better team, and she needs to be more experienced,” he said.

It was shocking to hear Auriemma be so candid and critical of Clark and the Fever.

But any WNBA fan who has watched the Fever so far this season knows that he’s speaking the truth.
