Hawkeyes and new head coach will play at Sanford Pentagon November 20th against Kansas.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – When the University of Iowa women’s basketball team visits the Sanford Pentagon on November 20th they’ll have a new leader.
Lisa Bluder announced her retirement today after 40 years as a collegiate head coach.
Here career started at NAIA St. Ambrose in 1984, moved to Drake from 1990-2000, and spent the final 24 years at Iowa where she most notably led Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes to runner up finishes the last two seasons.
She retires with a career record of 884 wins and 396 losses, 528 of those victories coming at Iowa making her the winningest women’s basketball coach in Big Ten history.
Jan Jensen, her assistant for the past 20 seasons, was immediately named Bluder’s successor as head coach.
The Hawkeyes face the Kansas Jayhawks in Sioux Falls November 20th.
