Former Stanford women’s basketball star turned LA Sparks rookie Cameron Brink is getting her first taste of WNBA action on Saturday night.
And it didn’t take long for the second overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft to score her first-ever point as a professional.
Brink got into the scoring action with a basket in the paint courtesy of Dearica Hamby’s dish. You can check out the Sparks rookie’s first career bucket in the video below.
Brinks’ first points of her WNBA career come in Los Angeles’s first preseason game of the season against the Seattle Storm. She will get her opportunity to score her first regular season career points, when the buckets count in the record books, on May 15th, when the Sparks host the Atlanta Dream to kick off the regular season.
Given the way Brink performed at Stanford and how high she was taken in the 2024 WNBA draft, sparks fans should get used to the site of her scoring early and often throughout her rookie campaign.

Last season was a historic year for Brink, who has the numbers to prove it. Her impressive 2023-24 stat line put her in rarefied air as she joined the likes of Brittany Griner and Courtney Paris as the only players with 1800 points, 1200 rebounds, 200 assists, and 400 blocks for their career in the past 25 seasons.
The now 22-year-old also led the Cardinal to a national title in 2021 and was named Naismith Defensive Player of the Year in 2024. Brink was also named Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2022 and 2024 and a three-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year selection.
Brink after being selected second overall in the WNBA draft
After Brink was drafted by the Sparks, she was very emotional. “I think I fell in love with the game even more just being here in New York with these girls,” Brink told ESPN’s Holly Rowe “I feel like my passion has just reignited and the college season is hard, but I’m just so looking forward to a new challenge and ready to get to work.”
Brink continued: “It’s just such a nerve-wracking environment but we work so hard for this,” Brink said. “And I just have to shout out all my girls. I’m so proud of all of us what a great job we’ve done. I’m so proud of all — I’m just so happy to be associated with all of them in the league and I’m just very thankful.”
Brink’s signed a four-year contract worth $338,056 and will make $76,535 during her rookie season. In 2025, she will make $78,066 and will then make $85,873 in 2026. The fourth year is an option, and Brink is slated to make $97,582.
