Not only is Paige Bueckers one of the best collegiate players of her generation, but she is also an excellent student.
As evidenced by her grade point average (GPA), if Bueckers did not have her future secured in the WNBA, she could also make her way as an outstanding professional in the social work field.
In her four-year career, although she missed the 2022-2023 season due to injury, Bueckers is averaging 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 32.8 minutes per game.
After returning from her injury, in the 2023-2024 season, Bueckers led the UConn Huskies to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost in the Final Four to the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Her performance on the court has earned Bueckers an avalanche of recognition. She was the Player of the Year in 2021, was named First Team All-American in 2021 and 2024, received the Nancy Lieberman Award in 2021, and was the Big East Player of the Year in 2021 and 2024, in addition to many other awards.
Paige’s grades
Beyond the hardwood, Bueckers is an excellent student. Paige studied human development and family sciences at UConn and graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.497. Her GPA from the fall 2023 semester was a staggering 3.9.
As if that were not enough, just on Sunday, May 5, Bueckers and several of her Huskies women’s team teammates enjoyed their graduation ceremony.
Azzi Fudd, with whom Paige will team next season, and WNBA rookies Aaliyah Edwards and Nika Muhl shared the diploma presentation with Bueckers.
The recent graduates
In mid-April, Edwards was the sixth overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics. Muhl, for her part, was selected number 14 by the Seattle Storm.
Bueckers, Muhl, and Edwards became close friends in their years with the Huskies, as evidenced by their social media posts after graduation. The three players shared photos of their moments during the ceremony and were excited about the honors they received.
After missing what would have been her sophomore season due to surgery to correct a congenital defect in her right ankle, Bueckers decided to pass on the opportunity to transition to the WNBA.
The star guard will instead take advantage of the fifth year of eligibility she can use due to the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 to take one more shot at the NCAA title.
