Why Caitlin Clark Is Really Hurt About Indiana Fever’s Brutal Loss vs. Connecticut Sun
The Indiana Fever were supposed to show signs of improvement the moment they selected Caitlin Clark first in the recent draft. Turns out, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star is starting to show signs of frustration after their recent loss to the Connecticut Sun.
Last season, Indiana finished last in the Eastern Conference with a record of 13 wins and 27 losses. Although their offense was ranked sixth among 12 WNBA teams, their defense was second to the last. As a result, the franchise ended up with the top pick of this year’s draft.
Coming out of college as its all-time leading scorer, Clark was projected to elevate Indiana and turn it into a contender right away. With her natural knack for scoring from anywhere on the court and creating plays for her teammates, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star should have made more of an impact now.
The thing is, Indiana hasn’t won a single game since the new season started. Their offense has fallen to 11th place while their defense is ranked last in the league. As a result, the Caitlin Clark-led squad has lost twice to both the New York Liberty and Connecticut Sun.

After their most recent 88-84 loss to Connecticut, Clark shared her thoughts on the game and why it hurt. In a video posted by Jacob Rude on X:
In that game, Clark and Kelsey Mitchell each had 17 points to lead the Fever. Meanwhile, Alyssa Thomas dropped 24 points and 14 rebounds to lift Connecticut up to their third straight win since the new season began.
It remains to be seen how head coach Christie Sides will turn things about for the team. For sure, Clark will be a big factor to the Fever’s success or failure this season.
