On Monday morning, the basketball world was shocked to hear news that Bill Walton had passed away, due to a prolonged battle with cancer.

Walton was one of basketball’s most beloved figures. After an incredibly successful college career at UCLA where he won two national championships, Walton was drafted with the first overall pick of the 1974 NBA draft by the Trail Blazers.

Although injuries shortened Walton’s NBA career, he still managed to win two NBA championships: One with the Blazers in 1977, and another with the Boston Celtics in 1986.

He was also the NBA’s MVP in the 1977-78 season, and was enshrined in the NBA Hall of Fame in 1993.

But fans loved Walton for his charismatic, carefree, whimsical personality. Which they’re now paying tribute to on social media.

One X user posted a classic video of Walton devouring a birthday cupcake with a candle still in it.

Another fan posted a video of Walton roasting Liberty during a live broadcast.

And Walton’s description of baseball will forever be an all-time classic.

Bill Walton was truly one of a kind, and there will never be another legend quite like him.
