Las Vegas Aces rookie Kate Martin was in for a surprise on her 24th birthday when her new teammates pranked her into thinking she had missed the bus.

A’ja Wilson and Kierstan Bell both took to their Instagram Story Tuesday night to share a clip of Martin sprinting behind the bus after dining with the team at Brasão Brazilian Steakhouse.

‘Don’t be late to the bus,’ Wilson captioned her post, alongside a series of laughing emojis.

‘Poor rook,’ Bell added.

In the clip, the Aces could be heard hysterically laughing while Martin furiously ran to catch up.

‘You guys were playing the whole time?’ Martin asked, as the athletes burst into laughter.

The Illinois native previously admitted that she was shocked to hear her name called in the second round of the WNBA draft earlier this year because she was primarily on hand to support fellow Iowa alum, Caitlin Clark.

‘All I wanted was an opportunity and I got it, so I’m really excited,’ she told ESPN in April

‘I was here to support Caitlin, but I was hoping to hear my name called,’ she told ESPN’s Holly Rowe at the time.

‘All I wanted was an opportunity and I got it, so I’m really excited,’ she added.

Martin averaged 13.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while playing for Iowa – and was a key contributor to the team’s success throughout the season.

Aces co-owner Tom Brady, who was approved as a minority owner last October, gave Martin a warm welcome.

He took to his Instagram Story, writing ‘Welcome to the family!’ alongside a graphic of Martin and her fellow Aces draftees.
