Over the weekend a video containing explicit content allegedly involving UConn star Paige Bueckers found its way to social media.

Former Iowa star Caitlin Clark was also a victim of the “leak” which was just AI-generated content showing explicit photos of the two. Just last year LSU’s Angel Reece was a victim of the same online scam and she pleaded with everyone to protect young female athletes.

“protect young women in sports!!!” she said on social media.

With the words “Bueckers” and “leak” trending on social media fans took matters into their own hands to protect the young basketball star. They started using the trending words in videos showing either her incredible ESPY’s speech or her basketball highlight reel.

The hard work from fans didn’t go unnoticed by Bueckers, who took to social media on Tuesday night to respond to the trending social media content.

“The devil works hard but God and the people around me work WAY harder. The outpouring of love and support from the WBB community is unreal. Love yall. Support women in sport ALWAYS,” she said in a short statement on social media.

Hopefully nothing like this happens to Paige or any other athlete moving forward.
