Kim Mulkey is the most polarizing head coach in women’s college basketball.

While nobody can deny her success (proven by her four NCAA championships, with the most recent being in 2023), her outspoken personality and flamboyant outfits attract a lot of attention; much of which is negative.

Mulkey never seems overly concerned about how she’s perceived by fans or the media. And this detached stance has, for the most part, rubbed off on her star pupil, Angel Reese.

But Reese made it apparent through a recent X post that she liked that she doesn’t appreciate how fans don’t like her just because they don’t like Kim Mulkey.

“Btw. Hating Angel because you didn’t like her coach is mental illness. Don’t be coming with the dry support now. Keep that same energy.” The post from May 8 wrote.

Reese kept a great relationship with Mulkey throughout her two year tenure playing at LSU.

But there might be a part of her that’s glad to be leaving Mulkey behind, now that she’s in the WNBA. If only because fans now have one less reason to hate on her.
