Blake Snell Rumors: Potential Dodgers Target Posts Cryptic Message as Free Agency Decision Nears

While it’s unlikely that the Dodgers enter the sweepstakes to land free agent starting pitcher Blake Snell, they have been connected to him all offseason.

Los Angeles has the money to spend, while always needing more help in the pitching department.

Snell remains a free agent this far into the offseason, as no team has come close to meeting his high asking price. But it’s been reported that he is willing to accept a shorter contract with opt-outs, potentially opening the door for a team like the Dodgers.

The former San Diego Padres ace posted a cryptic social media message on Sunday, sparking rumors that a decision could be coming down the line soon.

Recent reporting has said that he may prefer to join the Los Angeles Angels and that he has enjoyed his time in Southern California. It has also been said that Angels owner Arte Moreno may be hesitant to hand out a deal to Snell, given the fact that he has been burned in the past by free-agent contracts.

With interested teams starting to dwindle, the Dodgers could always come back into play. Snell would make the Dodgers even stronger for this season, giving them another ace-level starter to work with.

Additionally, getting Snell on the Dodgers would mean that they wouldn’t have to face him any longer. He has killed Los Angeles over the years, which could play into them going after him.

Los Angeles has already gone all-in to become a powerhouse going forward, so why not take a chance on a short-term deal with Snell? Teams can never have enough pitching and he has shown the ability to perform at the highest level when the lights are brightest.

It’s an unlikely scenario, but one that can’t be overlooked, especially this far into the offseason.
