CBS’s Brutal Error During 4th Quarter Of Super Bowl 58 Caused Massive Confusion Among NFL Fans (VIDEO)

Football fans noticed something fishy about the Kansas City Chiefs’ game-tying drive against the San Francisco 49ers at the end of regulation in Super Bowl 58.

The Chiefs took over at their own 25-yard line with 1:53 remaining following Jake Moody’s go-ahead field goal. On the first play of the drive, Patrick Mahomes found Travis Kelce for a nine-yard gain.

But CBS reset the graphics at 1st-and-10, even though Kelce was one yard short of the first. It should have said 2nd-and-1 instead, though Mahomes got the first down on the ensuing play anyway with a three-yard scramble.

It was an obvious mistake on CBS’ production team, and it’s mainly unfortunate because now it just adds fuel to the “league is scripted” calls from fans. As if the NFL doesn’t get enough of those to begin with.

The 49ers defense held the Chiefs to a game-tying field goal attempt in the waning seconds to force overtime. After Jake Moody made a short field goal on the 49ers’ opening drive in the extra frame, Mahomes iced the game with a three-yard TD pass to Mecole Hardman.
