Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions once again, and the longtime head coach doesn’t appear to have any retirement plans this offseason despite rumors saying otherwise.
“I’m good with what I’m doing,” Reid said after Kansas City’s 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII on Sunday.
When the NFL GameDay crew brought up the retirement rumors to Reid postgame, he also essentially shut them down, saying, “I think I am going to hang around.”
“That’s what I’m talking about right there,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes added when Reid said he’d be sticking around.
Before the Super Bowl, Reid told Jay Glazer of Fox Sports (h/t ProFootballTalk’s Michael David Smith) that he didn’t have his mind made up on whether or not he’d retire after this season.

Before the Super Bowl, Reid told Jay Glazer of Fox Sports (h/t ProFootballTalk’s Michael David Smith) that he didn’t have his mind made up on whether or not he’d retire after this season.
Reid also admitted that he approached Super Bowl LVII with a different mentality than past championship games, reflecting on the moment instead of solely focusing on the game itself.
Reid, who is set to turn 65 on March 19, knows he doesn’t have much time left in his legendary coaching career. However, it seems like he’s ready to go for at least one more Super Bowl victory alongside Mahomes and Co. before calling it quits.
Reid, Mahomes and the Chiefs have the opportunity to do something very special and inch closer to becoming a dynasty. That said, it’s no surprise Reid is ready to coach another season.
Reid took over as Kansas City’s head coach in 2013, and he owns a 117-45 regular-season record with the franchise. Additionally, he has led the Chiefs to nine playoff appearances in his 10 seasons, three AFC championships in five appearances since the 2018 campaign and seven consecutive AFC West titles, The 64-year-old is one of the all-time great coaches in the NFL and is now a two-time Super Bowl champion. He’ll get the opportunity to add another Lombardi Trophy to his trophy case next season.
