NFL fans watched in dismay as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs hoisted the Lombardi Trophy to end the season.

The storylines surrounding Mahomes as the best ever, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, as well as the team’s dynasty only got stronger. To make matters worse for teams around the league, Mahomes was able to overcome what many consider was his worst receiver corps.

In just about every mock draft, the Chiefs are projected to take a wide receiver and that remains the same in CBS Sports’ most recent mock by Chris Trapasso. In his latest mock, Trapasso projects that Kansas City will nab former Georgia standout Ladd McConkey.

The speedy wideout showcased his elusiveness and hands at the Reese’s Senior Bowl, and has since been skyrocketing up draft boards. Trapasso is confident that if the Chiefs did grab him, he and Mahomes would easily form a dynamic duo that the team is lacking.

“McConkey can be a 100-catch guy in Kansas City with Patrick Mahomes throwing him the football,” wrote Trapasso.

Despite playing in just eight games this past season, McConkey racked up 30 catches for 478 yards and two scores. Over his three seasons, he totaled 119 catches for over 1,600 yards, and 14 touchdowns. He also added four rushing scores as he can be used in a variety of ways, which surely Andy Reid would have a field day with.

In this mock draft, he marks the seventh receiver taken in the first round alone.
