I come bearing good news, San Francisco Giants fans. No, it’s not about the headline. There isn’t a lot of good injury news, per se. It’s about the fact that the four-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies is officially in the rearview mirror. All four games have successfully been lost, and the Giants can hopefully go win some games now.

With that said, here are some injury updates. The Giants announced that Tom Murphy, injured over the weekend, has a Grade 1-2 knee sprain. That’s not great, but considering how concerned Murphy was at the time of the injury, it might classify as good news. He will avoid surgery, and is expected back in 4-6 weeks.

Tuesday BP: Injury updates

The team’s other catcher, Patrick Bailey, is likely back sooner. Bailey is on the 7-Day Concussion List, and is improving every day.

Concussions are nothing to mess with, and Bailey has had a few of them, so hopefully the Giants play it very safe. But the fact that he was with the team, in the dugout, the day after being placed on the list, is a good sign.

And finally, pitcher Blake Snell threw a bullpen session over the weekend, and all went well. He’ll face hitters in a live batting practice session today, and then the Giants will presumably make a decision about what to do with him. He’s eligible to come off the 15-Day Injured List tomorrow.
