LAS Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce opened up on a bold way to stop Patrick Mahomes and the two-time reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Pierce, who was introduced as the Raiders permanent head coach last month, wants to implement a way to contain Mahomes similarly to what a legendary NBA team did to Michael Jordan.

The Raiders were the last team to beat the Chiefs before their Super Bowl-winning run.

Pierce was the interim head coach at the time and oversaw the defense that caused Mahomes to be sacked four times in the contest.

He would lose his interim tag last month and become Las Vegas’s head coach.

Last week, Pierce appeared on his star defensive lineman Maxx Crosby’s podcast.

When asked how to stop Mahomes, the 45-year-old referenced the 1980s Detroit Pistons teams that aggressively defended the eventual six-time NBA champion Jordan, and won back-to-back titles as a result.

“We’ve got the Jordan rules and we’ve got what I’m calling now, from now on as long as I’m here, the Patrick Mahomes rules,” Pierce said on The Rush with Maxx Crosby.

“You remember when Jordan was going through it with the Pistons, all those guys in the ’80s before he became Michael Jordan, Air Jordan, the Pistons used to whip his ass.

“Any time he came to the hole, elbows, feeling him, love taps.

“We’re in his head, mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, I’m touching you.

“So I showed my guys Jordan getting his ass whooped.”

Pierce also shared that he’s shown the Raiders team videos of boxing and UFC fights in order for them to play like a fighter.

Las Vegas will hope to improve from their 8-9 record in 2023.

They were 3-5 before firing head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler and handing Pierce the interim head coach tag.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, would win their last two regular season games after their Christmas Day loss to the Raiders.

And Mahomes would lead the team to four playoff wins, including the 25-22 Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas – the Raiders home venue.
