Emotional Moment Between Lisa Bluder, Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin Warmed Iowa Hearts

Caitlin Clark ready for WNBA debut, Lisa Bluder retires as head coach

Saturday night’s WNBA matchup between the Indiana Fever and Las Vegas Aces turned into somewhat of an Iowa Hawkeyes reunion.

Caitlin Clark took the court to face off against her former Iowa teammate and best friend Kate Martin. Former Hawkeye Megan Gustafson also suited up for the reigning-champion Las Vegas Aces.

Recently-retired Iowa coach Lisa Bluder and new head coach Jan Jensen made the trip to Las Vegas to watch their three former players take the court at the WNBA level.

During the first half of this Fever-Aces matchup, Kate Martin checked into the game right in front of Bluder and Jensen sitting courtside. Martin’s entrance meant all three former Iowa stars were on the court at the same time.

Take a look at the touching moment here:

Bluder, who had been the Hawkeyes’ head coach since 2000, announced her retirement from coaching earlier this month. Jensen was named as Iowa’s new head coach on the same day.

“Can’t wait to be there to support 3 of my Hawks!” Bluder wrote on X before Saturday night’s game.

Iowa fans are certainly proud of the talent their program has produced at the WNBA level, especially during this Fever-Aces matchup.
