The photographer involved in an incident with Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice at a nightclub in Dallas earlier this month has made a final decision regarding his case against the second-year NFL star.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero stated the photographer who accused Rice of assaulting them told police in an affidavit that it was a “misunderstanding” and asked for the charges to be dropped.
“There was also a recent accusation by a photographer about him assaulting the photographer on his way out of the club,” Pelissero said Tuesday morning. “I can actually tell you the photographer recently dropped those charges. He gave an affidavit to the Dallas police department saying it was a misunderstanding and wants the charges dropped.
“You still have things related to the auto incident that is going to have to play out here for Rashee Rice. Then on top of that, NFL discipline. But at least for now, back with the Chiefs.”
This is a significant turning point in Rice’s ongoing dysfunctional offseason. Because of his involvement in a multi-car collision in Dallas in April, Rice was already facing charges. After reports of an assault on Rice surfaced in May, authorities looked into the matter once more.
Rashee Rice is scheduled to participate in organized team activities (OTAs) with the Chiefs this offseason, even though he may face a “multi-game suspension” from the NFL as a result of the car collision case. After both off-field incidents, Rice will play alongside his teammates for the first time.

Rice’s future will be determined by the NFL and the courts. As the legal process for the car accident proceeds, neither the Chiefs nor the NFL have made any public comments regarding Rice’s situation.

In the postseason, Rice continued his stellar performances, hauling in 26 catches from his 33 targets for 262 yards and a touchdown while averaging a decent 65.5 yards per game.
He set an NFL rookie record with 26 receptions in the postseason as the Chiefs won their second consecutive Super Bowl.
