Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes are snubbed by Caleb Williams, the projected No 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, as the football’s GOAT – so who does he pick in top spot?

Unlike many players and fans, Caleb Williams’ football GOAT is not seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady.

On Monday, the projected No 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft revealed his GOAT in an interview with CBS.

‘My football GOAT is Aaron Rodgers,’ Williams revealed. The former USC quarterback admitted having multiple influences, however, Rodgers remains at the forefront of his game’s development.

‘I try to model my game after a bunch of guys,’ Williams shared. ‘But Aaron Rodgers, I would say, is No 1’

Although he did not pick Brady, who many consider the greatest football player, Williams shared his admiration for the future Hall of Famer. Williams said that when it came to ‘football, winning, and things like that, mentality [it’s] Tom Brady.’

After three years at USC, Williams is expected to be the No 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft in April

The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner is entering the draft after his junior year at USC. In his final season with the Trojans, Williams completed 226 of 388 passes for 3,633 yards and 30 touchdowns as the team finished with a 7-5 record.

Williams transferred to USC from Oklahoma in 2022 as a sophomore. During his Heisman-winning season, Williams completed 333 out of 500 passes for 4,537 yards and 42 touchdowns.

Many mock drafts expect Williams to be selected by the Chicago Bears with the first pick. In that case, the Bears will have to decide if they want to stick with Justin Fields, whom they selected in the first round in 2021, or start anew with Williams.

He can also end up with Brady’s former team, the New England Patriots. However, Williams may not be available by the third pick with the Washington Commanders slated to go second.

Nevertheless, plenty will be watching Williams when he takes his talents to the NFL. Should he land on a team that has the New York Jets on their schedule, he will get to go head-to-head with his idol Rodgers.
