A fellow rookie wished her well.
The 2024 WNBA Draft has reshaped the landscape of basketball as fans know it. They may have some rivalries entering into the league but the love and mutual respect are still there. Cameron Brink is one of the biggest names out of this draft class and it is for good reason. Unfortunately, she might not get to experience her full rookie campaign with the Los Angeles Sparks due to an injury against the Connecticut Sun. Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese saw this and had nothing but best wishes for her.
”prayers for my sweet girl! @cameronbrink22”
Cameron Brink suffered an apparent non-contact injury. Her knee will still have to go under evaluation in the next few days which means that the Sparks will be without their rookie for quite some time. Prior to going down against the Sun, she only played in four minutes of action and the only thing in her stat column was a foul.
But, Cameron Brink’s season has been fairly eventful. After getting drafted second overall by the Sparks, she has played in a grand total of 14 games and started in every single one of them. Brink notches 8.1 points per contest on a 39.% clip from all three levels of scoring. She also grabs 5.7 rebounds and doles out 1.8 assists on a nightly basis.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Sparks have been getting the best version of her too. Brink currently averages 1.1 steals per contest with how wary she is of the passing lanes and on-ball movements of her opponents. Her elite shot blocking from Stanford has translated to the Sparks. She reaches the apex of the opposing player’s shots and blocks them 2.4 times per game.
The Sparks are surely going to miss her impact on the floor. It was just unfortunate that they had to lose her during the clash against the Sun. In effect, the Sparks lost with a narrow 79 to 70 scoreline.

Brink scored seven points in this matchup and had to face tough coverages which were employed by the Sky. Reese, on the other hand, had six points with four of them coming late in the fourth quarter to secure the win over the Sparks. These two know each other well both on and off the court. It will take Brink a while to get back to the Sparks system but she might just be present in their next clash against the Sky. Hopefully, they have big outings and shock the world then.
For now, Brink needs to take her time to heal such that her career does not experience major setbacks.
