On Saturday, Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky will host the Atlanta Dream. The Sky look to reach .500 on the 2024 WNBA season as they currently sit at 4-5, while the Dream look to earn a winning record, sitting at 4-4.

Before the game, the Sky revealed that starting center Elizabeth Williams has undergone surgery for a torn meniscus and will be out indefinitely. This will likely increase the roles for rookies Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, both of whom were selected in the top ten of the 2024 WNBA draft.

In a pregame interview, Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon announced major news about Cardoso. She will start against the Dream, replacing Williams. This will mark Cardoso’s first career start in the WNBA.

“Kamilla will be starting today,” Weatherspoon told Sky reporter Karli Bell.

Cardoso made her WNBA debut last Saturday against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. She recorded 11 points and six rebounds in just 18 minutes of action. The Sky will have a starting rookie frontcourt with Reese and Cardoso for the foreseeable future.
